Does this stop AI hallucinating cases?

It stops an unverified citation reaching work product looking verified. The model may still propose something wrong; the difference is that the proposal is checked against real text before anyone sees it as settled.

It reports that it could not verify, which is the honest answer. Marking it verified on the basis of absence would be the exact failure this exists to prevent.
